Illustrated works from the Library collections - prior to 1700
The Library has many fine illustrated works in its historical collections,
works on flora, fauna, gardens, and domestic animals - especially
horses.
Here you can fetch a selection of illustrations from a number of the
book treasures. There are examples of simple wood engravings,
elaborate copperplate engravings, and unique coloured plates. These
illustrated works reflect the aesthetics and perception of nature of
their time in various ways.
